I was most fortunate to receive very special visitors in early May: sister, Bec and the parentals. A two-week stay in South Africa and Botswana, this marked their first time to the African continent. You'll have to ask them to confirm whether they enjoyed it, but I saw only smiles throughout their stay. The only downside was that two weeks provides only enough time for a glimpse of what the region has to offer (but we had a damned good time regardless)! The itinerary was diverse and action-packed. We kicked off the tour with 4 nights in Cape Town, taking in the food, wine and magnificent coastline. It was a great moment to see Mum and her cousin, Gill, finally meet after having been in contact for more than 10 years! A drive just down the highway led to 2 nights in Franschhoek, not really 'action-packed', but perhaps more accurately 'booze-fueled'. The true action was up next with 3 nights on safari at Madikwe Game Reserve in northern South Africa followed immediately by 2 nights in the Okavango Delta, before returning to sleepy Gaborone for 2 nights (in time for some much-needed rest).
Here are a couple of family photos, not least to prove to Bec's friends that she does indeed have a real, living brother... I'll post some more wildlife and scenic photos from the Okavango and Madikwe in the coming days.
